John Garone, born and raised in Bakersfield since 1966, has been in the real estate industry for 15 years.   John spent eight years as a Regional Property Manager for the second largest manager of multi-family residences in San Diego County.  After graduating from San Diego State University with a BS Degree in Marketing, John began his real estate career by heading up all of the marketing and advertising for a property management company that was responsible for the management of nearly 10,000 units in San Diego and surrounding areas including Las Vegas, Nevada.

John earned his real estate license in 1991 and from there was promoted to a Regional Property Manager.  His responsibilities included the management of nearly 2,000 units and the on-site management of 12 units, all while maintaining the marketing, advertising and human resources for the entire company.  In 2002, John moved back to his hometown and joined Coldwell Banker America West where his father has been a Broker/Owner since 1992. 

John comes from a long line of realtors that include both of his grandfathers, his mother and his father.   Uniquely, his mother, father and grandfather have all been honored by the Bakersfield Board of Realtors garnering either “Realtor” or “Salesperson of the Year” awards, signifying outstanding achievement in sales, Board and community service.

In 2005, John was awarded with the GRI or Graduate Realtor Institute designation. The GRI is considered by many real estate industry professionals to be the most advanced and comprehensive training program available to real estate agents in North America. 

John is newly married to his wife Cheryl, a Registered Dietitian and Director of Nutrition Services at Kern Medical Center.
